Biography

Meng Weidong is a vice president of the Chinese Musicians' Association, head of China Railway Art Troupe and a national class-A composer. Graduated from the Composition Department of the Central Conservatory of Music in 1987, Meng repeatedly acted as a judge at the CCTV Young Singer Award Competitions and for the “Golden Bell Awards” sponsored by the Chinese Musicians' Association.

Meng Weidong has created nearly 1,000 songs of various types, among which the fairly influential ones include One Song, A Sleepless Night, March of China, Big Pinwheel and To My Motherland; the Green Promise won a first prize of new works at the 2000 National Art Song Competition, and the Happy Wind and The Dearest won the prize for excellent works of the “Five-One” Project Award; and the opening tune he created for the CCTV’s News Broadcast has been adopted since 1988.
